~My number one just had to be The White Queen, again about Elizabeth Woodville. Number 1: The White Queen by Philippa Gregory She focused on all aspects of Anne’s life and personality that are rarely fully fleshed out in literature! ~The best fictional book about Anne Boleyn was by far this one by Margaret Campbell Barnes. Number 2: Brief Gaudy Hour by Margaret Campbell Barnes For me, this was a very interesting way of looking at the history of both. ~This is a novel about Anne Boleyn that from the onset compared her to Elizabeth Woodville. Number 3: Lady in the Tower by Jean Plaidy She is most often viewed as a beautiful specter hanging over the Tudor period. It shows some of her inner strength that often gets forgotten about. ~I really love this tale about Elizabeth of York. Number 4: The White Princess by Philippa Gregory It is one of the earlier novels about her that focused much on her romantic life, but not as much on her own power. ~This is a lovely novel about Elizabeth Woodville. The reason they are my favorites is that it is my favorite time period. These are in particular about Queens in the late medieval and Tudor periods. For today’s post, I have decided to do a countdown of my five favorite historical fiction novels.
