![]() ![]() While automation is hardly a new process it does seem to be reaching ever more pervasive heights and in so doing has taken on a certain ideological quality. Do not take for granted whether such reflection fills you with excitement or if it provokes a certain anxious feeling.Ī great deal has already been overtaken by automation, and it seems likely that more will be automated in the future, but that does not automatically mean that this is altogether positive. Now, consider the last forty-eight hours again, and ask yourself how many of the tasks that were still performed by an actual human may be taken over by computerized technology in the years ahead. Here is a thought experiment: reflect back on the last forty-eight hours of your life, how often did you find yourself relying on computerized technology for performing a function that you (or at least another human) used to perform?
